Abstract

Research Objectives (1) To determine the role of the police in investigating criminal acts of theft committed by children at the Bombana Police (2) to determine what obstacles are faced by the Bombana Police in investigating criminal acts of theft committed by children. This research was conducted within the jurisdiction of the Bombana Police with an emphasis on the aspect of the duties of Polres members in resolving criminal acts of theft committed by children. The consideration for selecting the location made by the author is the increasing number of thefts committed by children. The results of the study (1) the factors causing theft committed by minors are as follows: (a) Economic factors, (b) Environmental factors (c) Low education factors, (2). Efforts to overcome criminal acts of theft committed by children are (a) Preventive measures by the police and local government in Bombana Regency by holding lectures in schools from elementary to advanced levels, regarding legal awareness, the dangers of narcotics, traffic awareness and other things that can cause unrest in society, keeping children and teenagers away from facilities that can encourage them to commit crimes, for example eradicating gambling, tightening supervision of screenings of films that are only watched by adults, taking action against distributors of pornographic books, regulating the sale of alcoholic beverages and others, and tightening supervision in vulnerable areas. (b) Repressive measures, namely conducting research on children who commit theft so that judges can consider them in making decisions, holding skills guidance, providing educational knowledge.
